"Ups and downs in life are very important to keep us going, because a straight line even in an ECG means we are not alive". – Ratan Tata
It’s a story of an undeniably fantastico businessman and human being!
I don’t think this name needs any introduction. He is one of
the fantastic businessmen of all the times. With his leadership skills, he
transformed Tata group to new heights. The journey of Tata group from a
corporate house to a global empire is indebted to Ratan tata.

In 1960, his career with Tata group started. He worked as a
general worker initially. It was in 1971 that he was promoted as a director
in-charge at National Radio & Electronics Company Limited. Company was in
doomed phrase at that time but Ratan Tata with his knowledge predicted that
company should invest in high technology products. This step changed the whole
structure of the firm.
He headed Tata Industries as a chairman since 1981. It was
in 1991 that he replaced JRD Tata and became group chairman. This decision was
criticized by many people as they believe Ratan Tata was not that experienced
but when he showed his undeniably great leadership skills, the sound of
applause didn’t stop and he kept moving toward heights with his each step.
When world judged him because of this surname, his words
clearly break the stereotypes and his actions proved them all wrong.
“Power and Wealth are not two of my main stakes” – Ratan Naval

Under his leadership, Tata group started working with some
great brands like Jaguar, Land Rover, Corus and Tetly. He is a man with a unique attitude in himself. Taking an empire
to such heights of success is not the work of the back of any hand. It needs
consistent hard work and ability to see a big picture.
“If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you
always had. Think differently” – Ratan Tata
With his utmost interest in cars since childhood, he made it
his passion. With the launch of Tata Nano, world’s cheapest car, he showed his
brilliancy in cars. He had true leadership skills which transformed the whole
map of Tata group.
At the age of 75 in December 28, 2012, he stepped down the
chairmanship of Tata Group and Cyrus Pallonji Mistry is chosen as current
leader of Tata Group.
Still, RatanTata is a member of international advisory
boards of Mitsubishi Corporation, Booz Allen Hamilton, JP Morgan Chase and The
American International Group. He is also serving as a member of some of the
major international investment councils.
He has earned Padma Bhushan in 2000 and Padma Vibhushan in
2008. He is also honored in Cornell University with its highest award in
Economic Education as the 26th Robert S Hatfield fellow.
It’s humorous that a common man dreams to travel in a luxury
class and saves money all of his life and a man who owns an airline choose to
travel in an economy class till today.
“None can destroy iron but its own rust can! Likewise none
can destroy a person but its own mindset can!” – Ratan Tata
